FAQs

Question: How often should I tune my piano?
Answer: Ideally pianos should be tuned twice a year. Because the humidity cycles between dry and wet seasons, it is best to tune the piano about one month after the heat has been on (December/January) and about one month after the heat has been turned off (June/July). This cycle can change from year to year especially in this area. If you only do one tuning per year, you should do it the same time every year. In that way, the piano will be close to the same relative humidity each year and the tunings will be more stable.

Question: How much is my piano worth?
Answer: That depends. Pianos can be worth from nothing to several thousands of dollars depending on quality, type, size, age and condition. The only way to determine this is an onsite inspection.

Question: If I have my piano rebuilt, how long will it be gone?
Answer: This depends on the amount of work that is being done. Reconditioning can be completed in two to three weeks. Rebuilding usually takes eight to ten weeks and up to three to four months if the piano is getting a new sound board and refinishing.
